Any color, line or counterpoint is fair game.

Through my hurried journey of discovery on canvas the subject can often be exploited through accidental strokes. The personal feelings and vision sometimes shift and continue to develop. Necessary is a certain talent to stop when the painting has reached its optimum expression and is complete in composition. To achieve on canvas the feeling of space, distance and motion will give the painting a life of its own to become altogether an original.

Color is a joy. Caricature can be emphasized by line. I am quite partial to achieving elegance and humor in my work. Fresh work is accomplished with speed and energy, but there are times when this is not enough and diligence is necessary. "Corsica" is an example of diligence taking me several years to complete. A theme I often like to return to is the sea with its sky and water. As a navigator I became intimate with it.

Abstraction gives me more freedom of expression, but from time to time I make one more flower arrangement from life, or a portrait, an exercise in discipline. Decisions are taken quickly so that I am completely absorbed by the work, this energy becomes obvious and give the paintings their life.
